About Amity Online

Amity is one of India's larger private university groups, and its online division delivers full degree programmes to students who cannot attend campus. The teaching is entirely remote: recorded lectures you work through at your own pace, live sessions scheduled outside standard working hours, and examinations sat from home under remote proctoring.

The important point for anyone comparing options is that these are not short courses or diplomas. They are the same degrees the university awards on campus, taught in the same structure, with the same credential at the end. That is what UGC entitlement means in practice, and it is the difference between a degree that counts for a government job application and one that does not.

The programmes suit three groups in particular: working professionals who want a qualification without a career break, graduates in smaller cities without a good institution nearby, and people whose circumstances - caring responsibilities, health, cost - rule out relocating.

Online degrees vary enormously in quality, so it is worth being specific about what you actually get rather than repeating marketing lines.

• A degree with campus equivalence. UGC-entitled online degrees are treated as equivalent to on-campus degrees for employment and further study. Your certificate is not marked as a lesser qualification.

Postgraduate programmes

Two years, four semesters. Open to graduates in any discipline unless stated otherwise.

Undergraduate programmes

Three years, six semesters. Open to anyone who has passed 10+2.

Specialisations by programme

The specialisation matters more than most applicants realise: it determines your electives from the third semester onward and it is what a recruiter reads on your CV.

Recognition and validity

This is the question most applicants ask first, and rightly so. The short answer is that a UGC-entitled online degree is valid - but it is worth understanding exactly what that entitlement covers.

The University Grants Commission regulates which universities may offer degrees online and which programmes they may offer that way. Where a university holds that entitlement for a programme, the online degree it awards is recognised as equivalent to the on-campus version. That equivalence extends to employment in both the private and government sectors and to admission for further study.

Two practical cautions. First, entitlement is granted programme by programme and is reviewed periodically, so check that the specific programme you are applying for is currently entitled rather than assuming it from the university's name. Second, "UGC-entitled" is not the same as "UGC-approved", a phrase that has no formal meaning and appears mostly in marketing copy - if a provider uses it, ask them what they mean.

Eligibility

Entry requirements depend on the level, and they are less demanding than most people expect. There is normally no entrance exam.

Undergraduate

A pass in 10+2 from a recognised board is the requirement, with your Class 10 and Class 12 certificates as proof. Some programmes ask for basic English proficiency, and the BA additionally expects at least three years of education in English medium if you studied in another medium.

Postgraduate

A bachelor's degree in any discipline. The MBA and MA JMC require a minimum of 40% in your graduation; applicants below that threshold may be asked to clear an admission test rather than being refused outright. The MCA has an additional requirement - Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level - and applicants without it can qualify by completing a bridge course first.

International applicants

Qualifications earned outside India need a Certificate of Equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities. Diplomas are generally not accepted in place of school-leaving certificates.

Admission process

   Complete the online application form and upload the supporting documents listed below.

   Confirm your admission

   Once your application is accepted, you confirm your place by completing the fee formalities and your access to the learning platform is activated.

Fees and scholarships

We do not publish fee figures, and the reason is practical rather than evasive: fees are revised between admission cycles and differ by programme, by specialisation and by whether you apply from inside or outside India. A number published here would go stale, and acting on a stale fee is worse than having none.

What we can tell you is how the structure works. Fees are charged per semester rather than upfront, instalment options are available through partner financing, and scholarship and category concession schemes run by intake - merit, defence and accessibility concessions among them. Placements and careers

Career services cover resume building, interview preparation and access to placement drives with hiring partners across technology, banking, consulting and manufacturing.

Be clear-eyed about what this means. Placement assistance is real and useful; a placement guarantee is not a thing any legitimate university offers. What actually determines your outcome is the specialisation you choose, the work you put into the projects, and whether you use the career services rather than ignoring them.
